Year 3

Welcome to our Finch Class page!

Finch Class are a bubbly and enthusiastic class of 25. Our Class Teacher is Miss Vary and our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Pedder. We love to learn, explore and discover new things and we respect each other by always being respectful, safe, honest and ready to learn.

In Maths we are moving on to Multiplication and Division. We will be learning about equal groups and arrays. This links really well to our Mountain Pass targets so time spent on Times Table Rockstars or Mathletics will really support the children’s learning this term.

In English we are reading and writing emotive poems. We will be choosing powerful verbs to express an emotion. We will be exploring fiction and non-fiction texts to write reports and focusing on using conjunctions to explain our ideas.

Our Topic of this term is Extreme Earth! We will learning about the layers of our Earth and how Earthquakes and Volcanoes occur. We will make Earthquake resistant models and make music that resembles a hurricane!

Take a look at the incredible Stone Age necklaces we have been working on in our Topic lessons below. We planned and evaluated our designs. We used textile and sculpting skills to create jewellery for a Tribe leader. Can you see beads and teeth like those found at Star Carr?
