School Development Plan
School Development Priorities 2025–2026
“From the smallest seed grows the greatest of trees.”
At Tewin Cowper, we nurture every child so they grow in faith, knowledge and confidence, enabling them to flourish academically, socially and spiritually. Our 2025–2026 School Development Plan (SDP) focusses on providing the very best learning and care for every pupil.
Our Key Priorities
High-Quality Teaching and Learning
We are investing in staff training, coaching and curriculum development, so every lesson inspires curiosity, builds knowledge and challenges every learner.
Raising Achievement in Writing and Maths
We are embedding Essential Writing and Essential Maths programmes to ensure pupils gain fluency, confidence and enjoyment in literacy and numeracy.
Inclusion and SEND
Every child matters. We are strengthening support for pupils with additional needs through personalised provision, specialist training and closer partnerships with families.
Behaviour, Play and Attendance
Through our two-year OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) project, we’re transforming playtimes and promoting resilience, respect and responsibility. We continue to celebrate excellent attendance and positive behaviour guided by ‘The Tewin Way’.
Leadership and Governance
Our leaders and governors work closely together to ensure high expectations, effective monitoring and continuous improvement across the whole school.
Personal Development and Well-Being
We’re deepening our curriculum beyond academics—building pupils’ confidence, kindness and life skills. A whole-school focus on mental health and emotional resilience supports both pupils and staff.
Early Years Excellence
Our Early Years curriculum is being refined to give our youngest learners the strongest possible start, with a focus on language, curiosity and independence.
Looking Ahead
By July 2026 we aim for:
- Teaching consistently good or better
- Reading, writing and maths at or above national averages
- Attendance above 96%
- A joyful, inclusive and well-being-focused school community
We’ll review progress each term with staff, governors and parents, ensuring every child continues to thrive.
