Our Vision and Values

From the smallest seed grows the greatest of trees.

Inspired by Jesus’ parable of the mustard seed (Matthew 13:31–32), our vision is to be a school where the love and values of God take root and flourish. We believe that from small and humble beginnings, great things can grow. Our desire is for every child and adult in our community to experience ‘life in its fullness’ as they grow spiritually, socially, emotionally, morally, physically and academically.

Using the Roots and Fruits tree as our guiding image, we see our school as the branches—strong, supportive and life-giving—while each child and adult is like one of the birds who comes to rest, learn, and be nurtured before flying on to new horizons.

At Tewin Cowper, our ethos flows from our Christian foundation and our close partnership with the Diocese of St Alban’s and St Peter’s Church in Tewin. With a capacity of 180 pupils from Reception to Year 6, our size supports a nurturing environment where everyone is known, valued and encouraged to flourish.

Our Christian values form the deep roots of our community, shaping our curriculum, relationships and daily life:

Our Christian Values

Love“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” (John 15:12)
Love is central to who we are. It includes compassion, friendship, kindness and a genuine commitment to the wellbeing of others.

Forgiveness“Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” (Colossians 3:13; cf. Ephesians 4:32)
Forgiveness enables reconciliation, healing and fresh starts. It underpins our restorative approach to relationships and behaviour.

Courage“Be strong and courageous… for the Lord your God goes with you.” (Joshua 1:9; cf. 1 Chronicles 28:20)
Courage empowers us to face challenges with faith, persevere with hope and inspire confidence in one another.

Thankfulness“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” (Psalm 106:1)
A spirit of thankfulness fosters positivity, reflection and appreciation of the gifts and opportunities we share.

Respect“In humility value others above yourselves.” (Philippians 2:3)
Respect is seen in how we treat one another—with dignity, fairness, empathy and integrity.

Honesty“The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy.” (Proverbs 12:22)
Honesty builds trust, accountability and safety, helping us create a community where everyone can speak truthfully and be heard.
