Promoting Fundamental British Values

In line with guidance from the Department for Education, our school actively promotes British Values to help prepare our pupils for life in modern Britain. These values sit naturally alongside our Christian ethos and are reflected in the way we learn, work and care for one another.

Rooted in Christian values such as love, respect, forgiveness, honesty and compassion, we encourage pupils to treat everyone with dignity, regardless of faith, race, culture or background. Pupils learn that people may hold different beliefs and views, and that all people living in England are protected by, and subject to, the law.

The British Values we promote are:

• Democracy – valuing every voice and learning to listen respectfully to others

• The Rule of Law – understanding the importance of rules and laws in creating a fair and safe society

• Individual Liberty – encouraging pupils to make responsible choices and develop confidence in who they are

• Mutual Respect – showing kindness, fairness and care for others, reflecting Christian teachings

• Tolerance of Different Faiths and Beliefs – learning about and respecting different religions and worldviews

Through our Christian ethos and the promotion of British Values, we aim to nurture pupils who are thoughtful, respectful and well-prepared to contribute positively to their communities and wider society.
