School Ethos & Values

Tewin Cowper is a ‘small school with big dreams’; we seek to realise those dreams through the provision of a rich, exciting curriculum that engages every aspect of a child’s learning and development. As members of the Diocese of St Alban’s family of church schools and a close bond with St Peter’s Church in Tewin, we are proud of our rich heritage and committed to our Christian values which are woven through all we do, to promote pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. With a capacity of 180 children from Reception to Year 6, our small size supports a nurturing environment where we know and care about each pupil. We value the encouragement and support of everyone in our learning community and know that our successes and achievements will be recognised and rewarded.

Our Mission Statement

At Tewin Cowper, we are committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment, grounded in Christian faith, where every member or our community is encouraged to believe in themselves, in others, and in God.

Inspired by Jesus' parable of the mustard seed, we believe that even the smallest beginnings can grow into something extraordinary.  Through high-quality teaching, collective worship, and our caring community, we aim to:

  • Encourage belief in self, in others, and in God

  • Support growth in character, knowledge, and faith

  • Celebrate success in all its forms—academic, personal, and spiritual

Rooted in Christian values, we strive to ensure that every child and adult flourishes, equipped to live life in all its fullness and make a positive difference to the world.

Our Vision Statement

At Tewin Cowper CofE VA Primary School, inspired by Jesus’ parable of the mustard seed (Matthew 13:31–32), we believe that every child and adult can grow, flourish, and succeed. Rooted in Christian faith, our vision is to nurture a vibrant, inclusive, and nurturing community where everyone is empowered to develop spiritually, emotionally, socially, morally, physically, and academically. Like the tree in the parable, we strive to provide an environment where all can find shelter.
